- Go to a baseball game
Buy tickets and head to an Omaha Storm Chasers game. Bonus points if you head to a day game in the middle of the week! Check their schedule to see what promotions they have going on that day. You might luck out and go on Thirsty Thursday or Dollar Hot Dog Day!
- Head to the pool
Nothing says summer like spending a day at the pool. Grab your kids and your sunscreen and head to the closet pool. Whether you spend hours in the water, or just lounge and read a good book, this is a great way to spend a summer day.
- Take a hike
Close to Omaha, we have so many great trails that are perfect for a day hike. This is a great activity for either a family, with your pets, or as a solo pursuit.
- Have a picnic
Having a picnic outside is a great thing to do on a nice summer day. Whether you pack your picnic basket full of homemade goodies, or you pick up some sandwiches from a sub shop, you can plan a great picnic that everyone will love!
- Make homemade ice cream
Homemade ice cream might be something that people find intimidating, but really, there are so many recipes that are so simple to make! Many recipes don’t even require an ice cream maker, but if you do own an ice cream maker and you want to use it, there are simple recipes for that as well!
- Check out the zoo
Omaha is home to one of the coolest zoos in the world – so why not visit it once a year? Take a day this summer to go visit the zoo and look at all the awesome animals. It doesn’t matter if you have kids or not – the zoo is perfect for all ages.
- Read a good book
There is something about summertime that is just perfect for reading a good book. Go to the Omaha Public Library or The Bookworm and browse some titles before choosing the perfect book to read.
- Go golfing
Or putt-putt! Golfing is a great activity for spending a nice summer’s day, but if that isn’t right up your alley, or if you have kids who want to join, go play a round of putt-putt golf!
- Tour Lauritzen Gardens
Lauritzen Gardens is such a great place to look at beautiful flowers. Once a month you can bring your dog with their Leashes at Lauritzen days, and you can even go for yoga, tai chi or a walking club!
