  1. Henry Doorly Zoo

Omaha is blessed to have one of the best zoos in the entire country, and the Henry Doorly Zoo is one of the biggest attractions in our city. The zoo is currently undergoing massive additions to group animals from similar areas in the world together. Recently they have finished the African Grasslands and famously added elephants to our zoo once again. The next project they will be starting is the Asian Highlands.

  1. Lauritzen Gardens

A giant botanical garden right in the middle of the city, Lauritzen Gardens is a beautiful escape from city life. You can choose to walk around the outdoor displays on foot, or catch the train for a tour of all the gardens. They have more than just plants to see, too! Try and spot their model train that weaves through wildlife and check out their giant, nature-inspired LEGO displays.

  1. Joslyn Art Museum

Visitors will love exploring the Joslyn Art Museum, and they’ll especially love that the price is free for general admission! You can tour their permanent work of art for free, or you can check out one of their touring exhibits that they host for an additional ticket cost. If the weather is nice, you can also check out their outdoor sculpture garden.

  1. Old Market

Perfect for everyone who likes to explore or people-watch, the Old Market is great for spending an afternoon. Check out quirky, local shops that line the streets or stop for happy hour or a bite to eat. Omaha is full of small, unique neighborhoods, so if you have time, be sure to check out Dundee, Benson and Aksarben as well!

  1. Lakes & Parks

Now that spring is here and the weather is getting warmer, people are wanting to spend more time outdoors. Check out one of our local lakes or parks for a picnic or to walk the dog! No matter where you are in the city, there is an outdoor space near you! Omaha is home to Zorinsky, Standing Bear Lake, Hummel Park, Walnut Creek and Chalco Hills.

  1. Omaha Storm Chasers

Many people don’t know that Omaha is home to a baseball gem, the Omaha Storm Chasers. This team is the AAA team for the Kansas City Royals, and they are good. Head over to Werner Park to catch a baseball game this year. Be sure to check their calendar to see what event they are hosting – they usually have a special or event going on!

  1. Outdoor Concerts

Want to listen to some great music, but still enjoy the weather outside? Omaha has lots of outdoor concerts throughout the spring and summer like Saturdays at Stinson, Jazz on the Green and Stir Cove that are perfect for a fun evening out with friends. Some of these events are BYOB, so read the guidelines beforehand so you know what to pack!
